Job summary

Nexus Engineering Group is seeking a Senior Power System Studies Engineer to own analytical studies for industrial power systems, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance. You will lead end-to-end studies, validate models, and deliver client-ready reports.

You’ll build models in ETAP, EasyPower, or SKM, perform load flow, short-circuit, arc-flash, and relay coordination, and mentor junior engineers while helping shape Nexus’s standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience performing power system studies for industrial clients.
  • Advanced, hands-on proficiency in ETAP, EasyPower or SKM including building and validating models.
  • Deep command of core study types — load flow, short-circuit, arc-flash, protective device and relay coordination.
  • Proven ability to own studies independently, from scoping through client-delivered deliverables.
  • Working knowledge of IEEE 1584, IEEE 3000 Series and NFPA 70 & 70E.
  • Strong written communication and Excel proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and own power system studies end-to-end — scoping, modeling, analysis, quality control, and the final client-ready report.
  • Build and validate models in ETAP, EasyPower, or SKM PowerTools as the study requires.
  • Perform the full range of studies: load flow, short-circuit, arc-flash, protective device and relay coordination.
  • Include dynamic/static motor-starting, harmonics, ground grid analysis, transient stability, and lightning analysis as needed.
  • Create and analyze relay setting files and coordinate protection schemes.
  • Serve as a technical contact for clients—scoping work, data gathering, presenting findings.
  • Review and QC studies by junior engineers and mentor them on modeling, analysis, and standards.
  • Help develop Nexus’s study templates, methodology, and quality standards.
  • Travel occasionally (2–3 times/year, up to a week).
