Job summary

TALENT Software Services is seeking a Power System Protection Engineer in the United States to join our Protective Relay Settings team. The ideal candidate will have 5–10 years in Transmission, strong P&C design knowledge, and experience developing protective relay settings for lines, transformers, breakers, and buses.

The role requires familiarity with modeling software (ASPEN, CAPE, CYME, ETAP, SKM), IEC 61850 (GOOSE, MMS, SV), and NERC-PRC standards.

Qualifications

5–10 years of experience in the Transmission industry.
Experience with Protection & Control design concepts including one-lines, three-lines, schematics, wiring, etc.
5 years of experience in the development of protective relay settings (line, transformer, breaker, bus, etc.).
Experience with power system modeling software (ASPEN, CAPE, CYME, ETAP, SKM, etc.).
Knowledge of IEC 61850 (GOOSE, MMS, SV) and its implementation.
Knowledge of NERC-PRC standards and other industry standards.
Ability to communicate in writing and coordinate with team members and clients.
Ability to lead small projects including schedules, budgets, staffing.

Responsibilities

Develop protective relay settings for transmission elements (lines, transformers, breakers, buses).
Perform protection scheme calculations and provide setting files.
Model power systems using ASPEN/CAPE/CYME/ETAP/SKM.
Coordinate with clients and teammates; prepare project deliverables.
Assist in proposal development with scope, effort, and schedules.
