Job summary

Vicor Corporation in Andover, MA is seeking a hands-on design and development engineer to support VPS power supply products. You will build breadboard circuits, perform electrical evaluations, collect data, and conduct failure analyses to qualify designs.

Qualifications

• BSEE is required; MSEE preferred.
• 5+ years of switch mode power supply design experience.
• Extensive knowledge of high frequency switching topologies and control architectures.
• Power conversion design skills: high frequency magnetic design, circuit analysis, EMC compliance.
• Strong analytical, self-motivated and detail oriented.
• Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.
• Familiarity with simulation tools and firmware knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support design and development activities on VPS power supply products.
• Build circuits on breadboards to test new electrical circuitries.
• Perform electrical evaluation of products.
• Collect and prepare data from experiments and testing.
• Perform failure analysis using analytical techniques.
• Process prototype kits for verification testing and design approval.
• Evaluate electrical components and circuitry for use in power components.
• Support sustaining engineering for existing product lines.
• Assist Sales and Applications Engineering with customer interface.
• Design elements include electrical design, component selection, simulation/test, PCB layout and assembly.
• Develop project plans, write test/qualification plans and objective specifications.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth production and reliability.
• Provide full product documentation including BOMs, test specs and drawings.
