Job summary

Constellation is seeking a Control Room Operator in Washington, DC, to oversee the safe and efficient operation of a cogeneration plant during shifts. The role requires technical knowledge of CHP equipment and strict adherence to procedures.

Applicants should have a DC Stationary Engineer's License (3rd Class) and at least 5 years of control room experience, with strong mechanical aptitude and English language proficiency. The position is based on site with standard rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• DC Stationary Engineer's License (3rd Class)
• 5 years of power plant control room operations experience or equivalent education/experience
• Strong mechanical aptitude and basic steam plant/combustion turbine knowledge
• Ability to read, interpret safety rules, data, operating instructions in English
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic in all units of measure
• Ability to follow written, oral, or diagram-based instructions with sound judgment
• Demonstrated judgment and decision-making within defined procedures

Responsibilities

• Monitor and trend readings from the plant control system and equipment.
• Monitor gas turbine control panels to ensure proper operation.
• Perform water chemistry analyses and maintain chemistry control.
• Operate the plant safely and efficiently per procedures.
• Record variances and maintain control room log.
• Maintain control room and lockout/tagout records.
• Inspect equipment and report issues beyond routine maintenance.
• Support safety by addressing hazards and monitoring maintenance activities.
