Job summary

GenServe is seeking a highly skilled Power Generator Technician to join our field service team in Austin, TX. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel, natural gas, and propane generator systems and ATS/control networks, often leading Gen Tech 1 and 2 on-site.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of generator service experience, strong problem-solving skills, and a safety-first mindset. This full-time role involves travel to customer sites, on-call rotations, and contributing to successful

Qualifications

Must have 5+ years direct experience in generator service and repair or related field.
High school diploma or GED required; trade school or technical certification strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of major generator brands (Cummins, Kohler, Generac, CAT, MTU, etc.).

Responsibilities

Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on commercial and industrial generator systems.
Troubleshoot and service complex electrical issues, engine performance problems, and control system faults.
Conduct full system testing including load bank testing, frequency/voltage checks, and ATS operation validation.
Interpret and apply wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
Lead or support large-scale emergency service response efforts.
Maintain complete and accurate service records, parts usage, and technical reports.
Provide support and guidance to Gen Tech 1 and 2’s.
Coordinate with project managers, clients, and vendors to ensure successful completion of work.
Promote and enforce GenServe’s safety practices and protocols at all job sites.
Participate in on-call rotation and emergency response duties as needed and resolve equipment issues on-site.
Coordinate with dispatch to schedule multi-day service jobs and manage rental equipment for complex repairs, ensuring timely availability and efficient resource allocation.
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to respond to emergency service requests and ensure timely resolution of customer issues.
