Job summary

Tenaska is seeking a Senior Project Development Engineer to lead and manage all technical aspects of electric power generation development projects. The focus is on natural gas–fueled technologies, including combustion turbine generators and reciprocating engines.

The role may include supporting CO2 capture and CCS projects. You will collaborate with leadership, environmental, finance, and operations teams as well as external partners and consultants.

Qualifications

• Required: 5–10 years in energy sector engineering design/operations.
• Experience with combustion turbine or reciprocating engine project design, permitting, or construction.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Collaborative team player able to lead and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Define, plan, and manage engineering activities for project development.
• Evaluate facility configurations and layout options.
• Lead technology selection to optimize performance and cost.
• Develop design basis and oversee conceptual design.
• Prepare performance estimates (capacity, efficiency, water use).
• Conduct site feasibility reviews (geotechnical, hydrology, permitting).
• Prepare and review project development and construction schedules.
• Coordinate bid processes for major equipment and construction services.
• Produce technical reports and maintain project records.
