Job summary

Entergy in New Orleans, LA seeks an experienced Power Generation Engineer to provide technical oversight across plants, plant support, and fleet maintenance. The role centers on NERC compliance, testing coordination, and support of modifications and operations.

The position requires progression from Engineer I to Sr Engineer with 0–6+ years experience and a BS in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical preferred); power generation experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred).
• Progressive engineering experience levels from Engineer I to Sr Engineer as listed.
• Power generation or boiler/turbine operation experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and technical oversight in Power Generation environments (plants, plant support, fleet maintenance).
• Be the Plant NERC Champion; coordinate testing of NERC-related devices with Compliance Technical Specialists.
• Assist with self-certification process for NERC Reliability Standards.
• Provide guidance to plant staff to ensure compliance tasks are performed per Fossil Generation NERC procedures.
• Champion causal analysis; lead and assist in root cause analysis of plant component failures and operational events.
• Conduct project management and technical oversight of initiatives.
• Coordinate and execute capital and O&M projects; interface with production, maintenance, and project personnel.
• Ensure plant modification process is followed on projects; provide startup support.
• Provide engineering support for plant modifications and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Monitor plant KPIs; assist in action plans to close gaps and track progress.
• Support Stage Gate and Plant Modification processes in strategic planning.
• Ensure technical resources are available for daily operations/maintenance.
• Provide expert consultation on equipment (e.g., turbine-generator, boiler, auxiliaries) and interfaces with OEMs.
