Job summary

Paycom - ATS is seeking a Senior Automation Subject Matter Expert in Houston to lead advanced power generation automation, telemetry, and digital infrastructure initiatives. You will collaborate with engineering, electrical, and field teams to ensure high reliability and performance of power generation systems.

The role requires deep technical leadership, RCA experience, and the ability to drive standardization and innovation across product lines.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering or related technical discipline; equivalent experience considered.
Ten+ years in power generation, automation, controls, electrical systems, or heavy industrial environments.
Proven expertise in automation, controls, electrical systems, or power generation.
Experience with cross-functional engineering projects and RCA.

Responsibilities

Serve as SME for power generation, automation, telemetry, digital infrastructure and related tech.
Provide ownership and guidance across product lines and systems.
Act as escalation resource for complex engineering and commissioning issues.
Support gas turbine and power generation systems: controls, automation, PMS integration.
Develop standardized automation architectures, communication protocols, and system interfaces.
Support telemetry, data acquisition, edge computing, and OT/cloud integration.
Contribute to monitoring, analytics, predictive tech, and asset performance tools.
Lead RCA efforts and implement corrective actions.
Maintain engineering standards and best practices across teams.
Evaluate new tech and vendors for adoption across product lines.
Assist new product development from concept to commissioning.
