Job summary

Jobtailor in San Jose, CA, is seeking an experienced hardware engineer to lead end-to-end design of DC-DC power delivery for server motherboards and enterprise hardware. You will drive multiphase VRMs, perform loss and SOA analyses, and mentor junior engineers.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and silicon partners, establish design guidelines, and ensure high-current power integrity, EMI compliance, and robust fault protection across complex systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design, schematic capture, and BOM selection for high-current server motherboard DC-DC power delivery systems
• Design multiphase VRMs, point-of-load regulators, and power management circuits
• Perform component sizing, worst-case stress analysis, power loss calculations, and SOA assessments
• Establish PCB power layer stackup constraints and high-current routing strategies
• Collaborate with CAD/layout engineers on power integrity and EMI compliance
• Direct hardware bring-up, loop stability compensation, dynamic load transient tuning, ripple/noise verification, and power efficiency profiling
• Drive root-cause investigations and failure analysis for board- and system-level power anomalies
• Coordinate with signal integrity, thermal, mechanical, firmware, and validation teams
• Interface with silicon partners and component vendors on custom part evaluations, roadmap alignment, and technical support
• Establish and document internal power design guidelines, review checklists, and validation standards
• Review junior engineers’ schematics and layout artwork and provide technical mentoring
