Job summary

TDK-Lambda Americas Inc. is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer in the New York area to advance high-power converter development. You will lead design, validation, and testing activities, ensuring safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance while mentoring technicians and engineers.

The role emphasizes hands-on circuit design, simulation, and collaboration with customers to resolve application issues and optimize cost/performance for 1 kW–50 kW systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; advanced degree or certificate optional.
• 5+ years of related experience or equivalent combination.
• Hands-on experience designing, debugging, and testing power converters (magnetics, control loops).
• Understanding safety standards related to power supply products.
• Proficient in LTspice, OrCAD PSpice, MATLAB/Simulink, or Mathcad.
• Experience in high power (1 kW–50 kW) converter development preferred.
• Understanding power semiconductor technologies.
• Familiarity with PCB design.
• EMC issues for high-frequency switching and compliance standards.
• Good communication, problem solving and analytical skills.
• High voltage output experience (>1 kV) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate power circuit topologies for cost/performance in new product development.
• Circuit simulation, analysis and testing to verify designs.
• Design validation via functional, safety and reliability tests per criteria.
• Create test plans, document results and drive changes to existing designs.
• Mentor lab technicians and junior engineers.
• Perform failure analysis on field returns as needed.
• Support customers with application-related issues.
• Design to meet cost, safety and reliability standards.
