Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead and coordinate electrical design projects for SPARC's pulsed power system. You’ll interface with R&D, physics, construction, manufacturing, software, and commissioning teams to ensure high-quality releases.

You will develop technical requirements, test methods, and commissioning procedures, while guiding procurement and vendor activities. Strong leadership and communications are essential to drive safe, reliable power systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required.
• Master's degree in electrical engineering preferred.
• Experience with power electronics-based systems.
• Ability to lead a technical team from conception to implementation.
• Experience with MV/LV systems and power distribution.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex high power electrical designs for SPARC’s pulsed power system.
• Develop technical requirements for vendor electrical equipment via simulations and analysis.
• Develop test methods and plans to qualify new designs.
• Lead installation, test, and operations handover for electrical designs.
• Lead electrical work package releases (equipment list, drawings, schematics).
• Apply electrical engineering knowledge to design high power systems (switchgear, transformers, converters).
• Develop operation concepts and commissioning procedures for new systems.
• Interface with cross-functional SPARC teams to meet requirements.
• Support procurement contracts and vendor coordination.
• Apply safety practices and compliance standards in design and implementation.
• Work on in-house electrical power technologies for future CFS projects.
