Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Sr. Power Electronics Engineer to join the Prime Air Electric Propulsion Subsystem team.

You will design, develop, and validate high‑power electronics boards for 10KW+ DC systems, from concept through production, influencing performance, reliability, and efficiency. You will work with cross‑functional partners to deliver safe, certifiable hardware for 15‑minute drone delivery, applying system‑level thinking, DO-160/DO-274 compliance, IP ratings, and rigorous testing.

Qualifications

• 7+ years hands-on experience with multi-layer power electronics PCB layout.
• 7+ years experience on high-voltage DC power systems 10KW+
• Experience developing power electronics boards from concept through production.
• Experience with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test multi-layer power electronics board layouts for high-voltage DC systems (10KW+), from initial concept through volume production release.
• Define and execute power electronics component architecture, including topology selection and thermal management strategies.
• Lead the development of test plans that validate designs against DO-160 and DO-274 standards, ensuring EMC, environmental resilience, and functional safety.
• Ensure designs meet IP ratings for target deployment environments.
• Apply system-level thinking to understand how power electronics subsystems integrate with the broader product architecture.
• Partner with cross-functional peers, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to validate designs and balance trade-offs.
• Deliver accurate time-based estimates for engineering tasks and manage milestones through product development.
• Create and maintain high-quality design documentation including schematics, specifications, analyses, and test results.
• Contribute to design reviews and provide constructive technical feedback.
• Identify risks early and propose solutions balancing performance, cost, and schedule.
• Improve team processes and develop firmware/software/scripts to aid testing.
