Job summary

Salas O’Brien, Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (Power) to lead electrical design efforts for power generation and distribution projects.

The role involves acting as a design lead on multiple projects and coordinating with internal and external teams to meet project objectives. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in industrial power systems, strong business development acumen, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• BS. in Electrical Engineering.
• 15+ years of work experience with complex electrical systems in industrial/power generation.
• Registered Professional Engineering license.
• Experience with Revit.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges.
• Willing to travel.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical design packages from concept to IFC level for power generation and distribution.
• Coordinate with vendors to develop cost-effective design solutions.
• Read, review vendor shop drawings for GIS switchgear, transformers, DCU/PLC enclosures, and microgrid controllers.
• Ensure compliance with IEEE, UL, NEMA, NFPA standards for renewables and industrial systems.
• Communicate effectively with architects, owners, and contractors.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers on critical thinking and standards.
