Job summary

MasTec Professional Services is seeking a Power Distribution Engineer/Senior Designer to lead design efforts on electric utility distribution projects in the Richmond, VA area. The role includes field surveys, technical QA/QC of junior staff, and development of detailed design documentation.

Hybrid work options may apply for local candidates. Ideal candidates have 5–10 years in power distribution, strong NEC/NESC familiarity, and proficiency with design tools and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent with experience designing electrical distribution systems.
• 5-10 years of experience in the Power Distribution industry.
• MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook proficiency.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, designers, and drafters to deliver cost-effective, high-quality infrastructure solutions.
• Coordinate design/review of distribution projects for a utility, including BOM, clearance requests, permits, and equipment/labor units.
• Perform field inspections of distribution electrical systems.
• Produce detailed design documentation including line layout/routing, overhead/underground distribution, and conflicting utilities.
• Contribute to and implement design modifications to improve quality and processes.
• Apply design standards to underground and aerial pole lines, including replacement, primary service, and reliability/maintenance design.
