Job summary

Eaton's Electrical Engineering Services & Systems Division is seeking a Design Engineer - Power Distribution to lead the design of medium- and high-voltage power distribution and substation projects. This role can be remote within the United States.

You will develop complete engineering packages, coordinate electrical and civil design, manage deliverables, and mentor other engineers. Travel about 10% for site meetings and project support.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a BS in electrical or mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of seven (7) years electrical engineering or electrical design experience.
• Experience in medium voltage power distribution or substation design.
• Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering and design of medium- and high-voltage power distribution and substation projects, delivering safe, reliable, and innovative solutions for our customers.
• Ability to independently develop complete engineering packages including single/three lines, AC/DC schematics and wiring, cable/conduit plans, equipment layout plans, etc for turnkey projects.
• Coordinate electrical and civil design packages to ensure quality, constructability, and compliance with applicable standards.
• Develop complete engineering packages, coordinating electrical and civil design activities to ensure quality, constructability, and compliance with applicable standards.
• Drive project success by managing design deliverables, schedules, budgets, and technical accuracy in partnership with project managers, field teams, and customers.
• Apply value-driven engineering practices to optimize designs, improve efficiency, and deliver cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or performance.
• Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to develop technical solutions that address evolving power system needs.
• Participate in site assessments and field walkdowns to evaluate existing infrastructure and support the development of engineering proposals and project scopes.
• Prepare engineering estimates, review technical documentation, and support project planning activities.
• Mentor and collaborate with fellow engineers and designers, sharing technical expertise and contributing to a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
• Support projects across the United States through occasional travel (approximately 10%) for customer meetings, site visits, and project support activities.
