Job summary

BARNARD CONSTRUCTION is a Bozeman-based EPC contractor seeking a Business Development Manager for the power delivery team. You will build relationships with utilities, developers, and EPC partners to pursue high-voltage transmission and substation projects across North America.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Marketing, or related field; equivalent industry experience considered.
• 10+ years in business development, project management, operations, estimating, or related roles in power delivery.
• Strong understanding of transmission line and substation construction and energy market dynamics.
• Established relationships with utilities, cooperatives, engineering firms, EPC contractors, and developers.
• Proven ability to identify and pursue new opportunities and convert relationships into projects.
• Knowledge of utility procurement, contracting methods, and project delivery models.
• Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and market awareness.
• Excellent networking, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience supporting prequalification and proposal development.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
• Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively across North America.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic business development initiatives focused on power delivery opportunities across North America.
• Build, strengthen, and maintain relationships with utility clients, developers, engineering firms, EPC partners, and key industry decision-makers.
• Identify, track, and qualify upcoming transmission line, substation, renewable energy interconnection, and grid modernization projects.
• Monitor market conditions, capital improvement plans, regulatory developments, and industry trends to identify emerging opportunities.
• Collaborate with estimating, operations, and executive leadership teams to develop pursuit strategies for targeted projects.
• Support and coordinate prequalification submissions, proposals, presentations, and interview preparations.
• Represent Barnard at utility conferences, industry association meetings, customer events, and trade shows.
• Maintain opportunity pipelines, market intelligence, and client engagement activities through CRM and reporting tools.
