Job summary

Orbital Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Senior Power BI SME and Database Administrator to lead our enterprise BI environment from the ground up. You’ll design high-impact dashboards, establish governance standards, and mentor a growing team.

You should have a comprehensive understanding of database setup, relational architecture, data governance, and data movement across enterprise systems. This is a hands‑on role supporting executives, project managers, and operations leadership. Remote (U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a relevant field.
• 8+ years in Power BI development and platform administration.
• Experience building Power BI environments from scratch with governance and deployment pipelines.
• Experience migrating Tableau dashboards to Power BI.
• Strong DAX, data modeling, and visualization design skills.
• Advanced SQL with CTEs, complex joins, and performance tuning.
• SQL Server database experience including data modeling and support.
• Experience with On-Premises Data Gateways and Power Automate.
• Strong communicator able to translate data findings for non-technical audiences.
• Proven mentorship experience.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and optimize dashboards, reports, and data models for enterprise decision-making.
• Migrate and improve dashboards, including embedding within Deltek Vantagepoint.
• Develop DAX measures and data models for scalable analysis.
• Troubleshoot performance and modeling issues across environments.
• Own the Power BI tenant end-to-end: governance, security, deployment pipelines.
