Job summary

Renesas Electronics in Austin is seeking a Senior Staff Applications Engineer to join the Renesas Performance Computing Power Emulation Engineering team. You will work on pre-silicon feature bring-up, tapeout validation, and cross-functional design with IC design, firmware, and systems teams.

You will lead power integrity and high-speed interface design for AI/cloud infrastructure products, delivering advanced power solutions and enabling system-level validation ahead of silicon.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of relevant power design experience for CPU/GPU/ASIC-class loads with emphasis on board-level design and validation.
• Experience with high-speed differential clock and data interfaces (SerDes) and high-speed single-ended routing (DDR).
• Strong lab skills with high-bandwidth instruments and power validation equipment.
• Demonstrated cross-functional design reviews and clear communication of power/ SI/PI concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design multiphase power solutions for CPU/GPU/ASIC-class loads using digital multiphase controllers and Smart Power Stages.
• Design boards and power systems interfacing with pre-silicon emulation of digital PWM controllers and power stages for system-level validation.
• Develop EVBs including schematic capture, component selection, and thermal design.
• Oversee PCB layout for CPU/GPU-class boards to meet power delivery requirements.
• Design and review high-speed routing with controlled impedance, managing crosstalk and EMI.
• Validate power performance in the lab (load transient, efficiency, sequencing, protection, telemetry) with test equipment.
• Support pre-silicon new feature bring-up and tapeout validation with cross-functional teams.
