Job summary

Renesas Electronics seeks an Application Engineer for the Performance Computing Power Application Engineering team in Austin, TX. You will join a fast-paced group delivering AI/cloud power solutions, collaborating with marketing, IC design, firmware, and systems engineering.

Responsibilities include validating digital multiphase controllers and Smart Power Stages, evaluating new algorithms in the lab with FPGA, Verilog, and MATLAB, and developing EVBs and customer collateral.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of power management, magnetics, and control loops.
• Experience in embedded programming and Verilog for FPGA synthesis is highly desirable.
• MS non-thesis option with 2 years of industry experience is acceptable.
• Coursework in digital systems, Verilog, and mixed-signal ICs is valued.
• Proficiency with lab equipment and automation of tests is required.

Responsibilities

• Validate new digital multiphase controllers and Smart Power Stages to evaluate system performance.
• Evaluate new algorithms in the lab using FPGA, microcontrollers, and custom analog front end.
• Model DC-DC converters using SIMPLIS and MATLAB to support design teams.
• Develop EVBs with component selection, layout, and thermal design.
• Create datasheets, performance reports, and application notes for customers.
