Job summary

TRM Labs is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure (RDBMS) to build and scale petabyte-scale Postgres systems. You will own the serving layer end-to-end, from query performance to availability, while shaping the next-gen data platform with AI-assisted insights and automation.

You will optimize queries, design indexes, and validate changes with AI tooling; manage CDC pipelines and drive cost-efficient, high-availability data infrastructure for TRM's products across US/Canada teams.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years building and operating production PostgreSQL (distributed Postgres).
• Strong SQL optimization skills and understanding of distributed environments.
• Hands-on with CDC tools and AI-assisted query analysis.
• Experience with profiling tools and interpreting metrics/logs.
• Automation experience in Python or Go; optional Postgres extensions.
• Proficiency with AI coding tools and ability to judge AI output quality.
• Track record of AI-assisted cost or performance improvements.

Responsibilities

• Keep customer-facing APIs fast and available by tuning queries and optimizing indexes on distributed Postgres.
• Cut storage and compute costs via AI-assisted data-model changes and production validation.
• Build agentic automation for routine DB operations and safe self-serve tasks.
• Validate database changes with AI-assisted analysis before production.
• Manage CDC pipelines and use AI tooling to debug replication issues.
• Prototype new data stores and migrate workloads off legacy infrastructure.
• Codify workflows into AI-native runbooks for reuse by the team.
