Job summary

TRM Labs is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Data Infrastructure (RDBMS) to own and scale petabyte-scale PostgreSQL clusters, ensuring real‑time data availability and cost efficiency.

You will optimize queries, design indexes, automate routine operations, and collaborate across US/Canada time zones to deliver high‑throughput data pipelines with AI‑assisted tooling. The role blends hands‑on coding with systems engineering and reliability.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years building and operating production PostgreSQL (Citus, Aurora, AlloyDB, or equivalent)
• Deep SQL optimization skills (Explain Plans, CTEs, window functions, partitioning)
• Hands-on experience with CDC tools (PeerDB, Fivetran, Debezium) and AI tooling to debug replication
• Profiling databases to interpret metrics/logs, using LLMs to summarize findings
• Production automation in Python or Go, including agentic automation of routine tasks

Responsibilities

• Keep customer-facing APIs fast and available at five-nines; optimize queries and schema
• Cut storage and compute costs using AI-assisted analysis to identify opportunities
• Automate routine database operations to reduce toil
• Validate database changes before production to protect data integrity and latency
• Manage CDC pipelines and debug replication failures
• Prototype new data stores and migrate workloads off legacy infra
