Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX, seeks an experienced research administration professional to oversee post-award grant management and ensure compliance with federal regulations. As designated to act in the Associate Director’s absence, you will guide investigators, supervise staff, and manage financial reporting and time & effort processes.

Responsibilities include coordinating budgets, supporting grant proposals, and maintaining regulatory documentation.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Eight years of experience in research administration.
• Strong knowledge of federal regulations governing academic medical center research.
• Two years of prior management experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and supervision of post-award grant management.
• Assist principal investigators with preparation of complex grants and proposals.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports for grants by faculty and category.
• Monitor time and effort reporting and certification.
• Meet with faculty to review financial and effort reports monthly.
• Supervise staff and delegate related assignments.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly reports on Time & Effort and salary funding sources.
• Advise investigators on grant applications, deadlines, and projections for future funds.
• Assist with annual progress reports and grant submissions.
• Seek funding opportunities based on investigators’ expertise and interests.
• Furnish guidance on university and grantor/contractor forms.
• Review completed applications and contracts for compliance with requirements.
• Review service contracts and affiliation agreements.
• Recommend budget changes permissible under grants/contracts terms.
• Administer grant disbursements following budget guidelines.
• Assist with grant/protocol submissions to IRB/OCR/IACUC/OSP.
• Draft communications with Sponsor/regulatory documents.
• Utilize eRA Commons, eBRAP, proposalCENTRAL for submissions.
• Responsible for progress report completion and submission.
• Responsible for data entry in grants database.
• Perform related duties as required.
