Job summary

Florida Department of Financial Services is seeking a DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH AND POLICY to lead research, policy initiatives, and regulatory analysis. You will oversee complex evaluations, develop policy frameworks, and coordinate with lawmakers, executives, and stakeholders to improve state programs.

The role requires strong analytical capabilities, extensive knowledge of legal terminology, and proven leadership in public policy projects.

Responsibilities

• Directing research and analysis on topics including insurance markets, healthcare, immigration, fire safety, law enforcement, banking, and consumer finance.
• Leading or supporting policy initiatives and legislative projects, including bill drafting support and stakeholder engagement.
• Independently researching and developing policy ideas and assessing statutory changes.
• Preparing policy briefs, white papers, and strategic communications for leadership and the Legislature.
• Monitor laws at state, federal, and local levels to identify opportunities for policy improvements.
• Leading development and evaluation of policy proposals and regulatory frameworks.
• Collaborating with subject matter experts to avoid negative impacts on programs and processes.
• Working with legislative staff, executive leadership, and external stakeholders to refine policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
