My Florida Families in Tallahassee seeks a senior policy advisor to a subcommittee chair. This role requires expert research, complex analysis, and draft legislation, analyses, and reports for legislative consideration.

You will oversee policy areas such as child welfare, mental health, substance abuse, elder services, domestic violence, and human trafficking, coordinating with agencies and legislators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and seven years of professional administrative, research, policy analysis, or program planning and evaluation experience.
• A master’s degree can substitute for one year of the required experience; a doctorate for two years.
• Professional experience as described above can substitute for the required college education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Maintain expertise in subcommittee subject area and monitor significant changes.
• Conduct studies related to policy and prepare legislation to solve problems identified by the subcommittee chair, members, staff, and public.
• Plan and coordinate the preparation of research projects and major subcommittee documents.
• Coordinate subcommittee meeting planning with chair and staff and present findings when appropriate.
• Prepare or review subcommittee reports and budget documents and assist in policy/procedure development.
