Job summary

The American Heart Association is seeking a Senior Policy Analyst, Tobacco, Systems of Care. This role is based in Washington, DC, with home-based options, focusing on translating science into policy and developing advocacy content for state and federal initiatives.

You will lead writing efforts, engage with government agencies and coalitions, and oversee policy implementation research to inform model policy development. Travel about 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in health policy or public health.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in policy development and advocacy.
• Experience translating science into public policy recommendations.
• Strong writing and speaking abilities, with external partners.
• Ability to travel about 10% overnight.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Translate science into policy and develop policy statements and briefs.
• Manage writing process and coordinate experts for policy papers.
• Review research and support policy position with evidence.
• Conduct evaluation research to inform policy development.
• Represent AHA at conferences and with coalitions and partners.
• Lead or participate in working groups on tobacco and systems of care.
• Provide materials for Advocacy Coordinating Committee meetings.
