American Heart Association in Washington, DC (home-based acceptable) seeks a Senior Policy Analyst, Tobacco, Systems of Care to lead policy research, translate science into advocacy content, and build external relationships for state and federal efforts.

You will contribute to policy statements, briefs, and coordination with coalitions, while supporting committees and volunteers across communities and workplaces.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
• At least 5 years of relevant advocacy policy experience.
• Three+ years translating science and medical research into public policy.
• Proficient knowledge of health policy, healthcare delivery, and tobacco prevention/cessation.
• Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to develop external relationships with government agencies and coalitions.
• Capable of independent work and teamwork, with deadline discipline.
• Willingness to travel overnight about 10% of the time.

Responsabilidades

• Translate science into policy for strategic issues and support state/federal advocacy.
• Develop policy statements, regulatory comments, model legislation, and supporting materials.
• Manage writing process and coordinate with experts and groups.
• Review research for relevance and support of policy positions.
• Engage with government agencies and coalitions, representing the Association at meetings.
• Lead or participate in cross-departmental groups addressing tobacco and systems of care.
• Provide content for Advocacy Coordinating Committee meetings and liaise with volunteers.
