Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–6 years on advocacy related to US immigration, regional migration, and gender equality.
  • Policy advocacy experience, particularly in Congress.
  • Strong understanding of US immigration system and policy impact.
  • Expertise in MRJ core issues: family separation, detention, reproductive rights.
  • Ability to design technical tools on family separation, detention, deportation, migration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Engage US administration, Congress, state/local governments and other policymakers to advance migrant protections.
  • Draft reports, explainers, policy briefs, one-pagers and materials for service providers.
  • Travel occasionally to Central America and Mexico for interviews and fieldwork.
  • Lead or participate in coalitions and working groups on policy issues.
  • Design advocacy initiatives on family separation, detention and reproductive rights.
  • Draft public statements and blogs in response to breaking news.
  • Manage MRJ’s social media in collaboration with communications.
  • Represent WRC at meetings, conferences, and public events.
  • Identify new supporters and opportunities for WRC impact.
