Job summary

World Relief seeks an Advocacy Specialist to engage with churches, pastors, and community members to promote pro-immigrant policies aligned with WR’s positions. This hybrid role includes 4 days in office and 1 remote.

The role requires Christian faith, a Bachelor’s degree, and 2+ years in public policy or related fields, with strong communication and policy advocacy skills. Location is North Carolina, with statewide travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 2+ years in public policy or related field.
• Passionate about social justice and immigration issues.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
• Christian faith aligned with World Relief's values.
• Ability to travel within North Carolina.
• Excellent written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

• Organize and attend advocacy events statewide.
• Represent WR at hearings and public forums.
• Coordinate with marketing on advocacy content.
• Build relationships with churches, policymakers and coalitions.
• Develop advocacy strategies and campaigns and track progress.
• Monitor legislation and prepare policy briefs and recommendations.
• Maintain records of engagement and measure partnerships.
• Train community in advocacy efforts.
• Engage in direct negotiations with officials as needed.
• Manage grants and renewals with funding partners.
