Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead cross‑functional teams within the ePMO across academic, research, and healthcare portfolios. You will plan, execute, and control project activities, manage scope, risks, and budgets, and report progress to the Program Director.

The role requires PMP and healthcare PMO experience, with a proven ability to lead multiple projects, mentor staff, and deliver results in a complex system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, statistics, health care, management, or related field and five (5) years PM experience OR Master's degree in Healthcare or Business Administration and three (3) years PM experience
• PMP or equivalent PM certification required and maintained
• At least two (2) years healthcare experience and at least (2) years of management experience leading a team
• Experience delivering presentations to senior management
• Experience managing vendor contracts and relationships
• Experience working for a PMO
• Experience using SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel
• Experience leading projects across all PM phases in healthcare
• Proficiency with PM tools: planning, risk/issue, governance, cost/benefit, change control
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and adapt to a dynamic environment
• Experience budgeting and forecasting
• Strong analytical thinking and prioritization

Responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day assignments for cross‑functional teams and ensure compliance with PMO standards
• Lead initiation, planning, execution and closeout of projects and PMO initiatives
• Define and baseline project scope via charters, scope statements and WBS
• Oversee project management activities across existing and new applications in academic, research, and healthcare portfolios
• Record and resolve project issues, change requests and risks with up‑to‑date documentation
• Support enterprise PM methodologies, tools, and applications
• Manage stakeholder expectations, resources, scheduling, and vendor coordination within deadlines and budgets
• Proactively manage risks and issues to deliver projects per scope
• Apply analytical/problem‑solving techniques and strong execution abilities
• Organize and lead project teams, build relationships with colleagues and system partners
• Provide mentorship to team members and drive change management
• Track progress and forecast trends; report status concisely to stakeholders
• Define objectives and develop detailed project plans with business owners
• Identify opportunities for process improvement across departments
• Perform cost/benefit analyses and develop key metrics to measure progress
• Collaborate with other managers to ensure efficient project integration
• Develop and maintain project documentation and reporting procedures
• Ensure effective implementation of processes and procedures with participating parties
• Assist team members in resolving problems and escalate when needed
• Ensure customer satisfaction related to project implementations
• Provide timely status updates to leadership
