Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead cross‑functional teams within the ePMO across academic, research, and healthcare portfolios. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, statistics, health care, management, or related field and five (5) years PM experience OR Master's degree in Healthcare or Business Administration and three (3) years PM experience
  • PMP or equivalent PM certification required and maintained
  • At least two (2) years healthcare experience and at least (2) years of management experience leading a team
  • Experience delivering presentations to senior management
  • Experience managing vendor contracts and relationships
  • Experience working for a PMO
  • Experience using SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel
  • Experience leading projects across all PM phases in healthcare
  • Proficiency with PM tools: planning, risk/issue, governance, cost/benefit, change control

Responsibilities

  • Manage day‑to‑day assignments for cross‑functional teams and ensure compliance with PMO standards
  • Lead initiation, planning, execution and closeout of projects and PMO initiatives
  • Define and baseline project scope via charters, scope statements and WBS
  • Oversee project management activities across existing and new applications in academic, research, and healthcare portfolios
  • Record and resolve project issues, change requests and risks with up‑to‑date documentation
  • Support enterprise PM methodologies, tools, and applications
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, resources, scheduling, and vendor coordination within deadlines and budgets
  • Proactively manage risks and issues to deliver projects per scope
  • Apply analytical/problem‑solving techniques and strong execution abilities
  • Organize and lead project teams, build relationships with colleagues and system partners
  • Provide mentorship to team members and drive change management
  • Track progress and forecast trends; report status concisely to stakeholders
  • Define objectives and develop detailed project plans with business owners
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement across departments
  • Perform cost/benefit analyses and develop key metrics to measure progress
  • Collaborate with other managers to ensure efficient project integration

Under limited supervision, the Senior Project Manager provides project leadership to include managing all project work and project communications assigned within the ePMO. This position is responsible for planning, executing, and controlling project management activities, changes, and reporting across small to large projects for existing and new implementations within the academic, research, and healthcare system portfolios. Job Description

Job Responsibilities:
  • The Senior Project Manager manages day-to-day assignments for cross-functional and assigned team members and ensures compliance in the use of project management forms and processes, along with ePMO standards
  • Responsible for the analysis, initiation, planning, execution, and closeout of projects and ePMO initiatives as assigned by the Program director or other ePMO senior leader
  • Exhibits strong project initiation and planning activities with experience justifying and planning projects, to include scope, requirements, defining and baselining project scopes (via charters, scope statements, work breakdown structures, statements of work)
  • This position is responsible for all project management activities, updates, and reporting across existing and new application implementations within the academic, research, and healthcare system portfolios
  • This role ensures the accurate recording and timely resolution of project issues, change requests, and risks, and for maintaining accurate and up-to‑date project documentation
  • This position is expected to comply with, support, and provide feedback on enterprise-wide project management methodologies, tools, and applications
  • Responsible for executing approved projects to meet customer expectations, deadlines, and budgets including: managing stakeholder expectations, planning, and scheduling project resources, managing team members as well as vendors
  • Proactively manages risks and issues to deliver projects according to scope
  • Working knowledge of analytical and problem‑solving techniques and tools with strong project execution abilities and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to organize, manage, and lead the project team to success through building strong relationships with colleagues and system partners
  • Demonstrates self‑awareness and provides mentorship to other team members
  • Utilizes change management to control scope and communicate scope changes
  • Tracks and reports project progress and forecast trends
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including summaries, presentations, and executive reports
  • The SPM will provide internal direction, leadership, and accountability for project management efforts among operations as well as across the system
  • Will define project objectives and measures to be tracked by the responsible business owners, and develop and maintain detailed project plans
  • Identify trends and process improvement opportunities across departments
  • Perform high level data analysis, including cost/benefit analysis
  • Develop and implement key metrics to measure and report on progress of initiatives
  • Work with other managers to achieve efficiencies across integration of projects
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, this includes utilizing standard project documentation and methodology and project tracking and reporting procedures
  • Develop cross‑functional, change management and implementation strategies; ensure that all the participating parties have committed to effective implementation of the processes and procedures
  • Assist team members in resolving project problems, escalates issues when necessary, and facilities decision‑making
  • Responsible for customer satisfaction as it relates to implementation of projects
  • Provide concise and timely status reporting as required

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, statistics, health care, management, or related business field required and five (5) years of Project Management experience, OR Master's degree in Healthcare or Business Administration or a related field from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of Project Management experience:
    • Experience must be in supporting, leading, or coordinating project activities
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent project management certification required and must be maintained
  • At least two (2) years of healthcare experience and at least (2) years of management experience and leading a team
  • Experience delivering presentations to senior management
  • Experience managing vendor contracts and relationships
  • Experience working for a Project Management Office (PMO)
  • Experience using SharePoint, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel required
  • Experience leading projects
  • Experience with all phases of project management, with demonstrated success across a variety of project types with a focus on healthcare related projects
  • Proficiency of project management tools and techniques (e.g., project planning, risk/issue management, governance, cost/benefit analysis, project change controls)
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects concurrently
  • An ability to quickly adapt to changes in a dynamic environment
  • Experience building and managing budgets and budget forecasting
