Job summary

Pike Engineering is seeking a Project Manager to lead small to mid-scale electrical substations, transmission, distribution, and communications projects. You will manage scope, schedule, cost, safety and quality per PMBOK, while maintaining client relationships and reporting to management.

The role requires strong communication, leadership, and financial controls, with a focus on delivering safe, cost-effective, and high-quality execution. Equal opportunity employer; non-union shop.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the utility industry.
• Detailed knowledge of project management fundamentals.
• Working knowledge of personal computers and MS Office including MS Project and/or Primavera scheduling software.
• Demonstrated skills in written communications; ability to compose basic as well as complex technical documents, formal letters, invoices.
• Demonstrated skills in oral communications; ability to make presentations to large, diverse groups.
• High energy level with the ability to work in a fast paced, ambiguous environment with a bias for action.
• Proven success in developing and maintaining internal and external relationships while effectively navigating organizational barriers.
• High commitment to achieving goals and plans.
• Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills.
• Demonstrated negotiating and decision-making skills.
• Working knowledge of project accounting practices and financial systems.
• General understanding of contract pricing mechanisms.
• Working knowledge of leading and influencing others in a matrix organization.
• Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Manage the project in accordance with Pike Engineering Policies and Procedures.
• Manage the client and project stakeholders, ensuring trusted relationships.
• Oversee contract negotiation, change orders, submittals, and approvals.
• Establish systems to carry out the contract including subcontractor management.
• Apply effective change control and risk management processes.
• Ensure EH&S and Quality programs are in place for the project.
• Develop thorough estimates and proposals.
• Lead project meetings (kickoff, status, etc.).
• Provide performance feedback to management and project team.
• Prepare project reporting and status updates for team, management, and client.
• Maintain accurate project financials with backups for SOX/compliance.
• Implement financial controls to ensure profitability and cash flow.
• Prepare accurate invoices for timely payments.
