Job summary

Kelso Industries seeks a Commercial & Industrial Plumbing Estimator to prepare accurate bids for plumbing projects nationwide. You will perform detailed takeoffs, develop material, labor, and subcontractor pricing, and craft complete bid packages with attachments and clarifications.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of plumbing estimating experience, proficient plan reading, and strong collaboration with internal teams and vendors.

Qualifications

Minimum three years of commercial/industrial mechanical or plumbing experience.
At least two years of estimating experience preferred.
Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and bid documents.
Proficiency with FastPipe and Excel; strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

Review drawings and addenda to determine full scope of work.
Perform material takeoffs by material, size, quantity, and category.
Apply labor rates to quantities considering installation sequence and site conditions.
Solicit quotes from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
Identify risks, ambiguities, and constructability concerns affecting bids.
Attend pre-bid walkthroughs to assess site conditions and access constraints.
Prepare and submit complete bid proposals with required forms and documentation.
Maintain organized Job Estimate folders and documentation.
Coordinate bid reviews with the Senior Estimator and manage bid calendar.
Identify value-engineering opportunities during estimating and bidding.
Develop and maintain labor productivity and unit-rate databases.
Transfer estimate assumptions and documentation to project management after award.
Track bid results and calibrate estimates for future bids.
