Job summary

Salas O’Brien in Austin, TX seeks a Senior Plumbing Engineer to design and develop plumbing systems for commercial buildings, including medical/laboratory piping and gases.

You will oversee drawings and specs, lead project teams, and serve as the primary client contact. A Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and 10+ years of plumbing design experience for labs/medical facilities are required. Travel 10% with a comprehensive benefits package.

Job Summary:

The Senior Plumbing Engineer serves to design and develop plumbing systems for use in commercial buildings.

In this role, you will:

• Design plumbing systems including medical/laboratory piping and gases.
• Oversee the preparation of technical drawings, specifications of plumbing systems and topographical maps.
• Lead project teams and serve as the primary contact for discipline with clients
• Prepare specifications for purchases of materials and equipment.
• Develop calculations for plumbing systems and associated controls.

You will be a great fit if:

• You have a minimum of 10+ years of experience.
• You have a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• You have thorough knowledge of plumbing design and corresponding terminology.
• You have experience with laboratories/medical facilities design.
• You have an excellent work ethic and attitude.

Skills/abilities:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, MS Office
• Ability to successfully lead teams and manage projects
• Excellent ability to read, interpret and implement plumbing design documentation.
• Interpersonal communication skills, combined with organizational skills, the ability to plan, balance and prioritize work.
