Job summary

Salas O’Brien is seeking a mechanical/architectural engineer to prepare plans, designs and calculations per standard practices. You will work under mentors and perform HVAC, plumbing and fire-protection related tasks on dedicated projects.

Expect field work, client meetings, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver quality engineering solutions. A Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering is required; FE exam is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or architectural engineering.
• Passing Fundamentals of Engineering Exam preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare simple and routine plans, designs and calculations following established engineering practices.
• Collaborate with mentors for design direction.
• Perform mechanical/plumbing engineering tasks on assigned projects including HVAC, plumbing and fire protection aspects.
• Conduct field work to document existing conditions and meet with clients.

Responsibilities:

Prepares simple and routine plans, designs, and calculations by following standard engineering practices and procedures.

Seeks code references and design direction from mentors.

Performs individual aspects of mechanical/plumbing engineering as it relates to individually assigned projects. This is inclusive of, but not limited to the following:

• HVAC – Split system/Package Heat Pumps, Chilled Water/Hot Water

distribution systems.

• Plumbing – Medical gas systems, Hot and cold water/waste and vent systems, Compressed air systems.
• Fire Protection – Performance drawings and specification for wet pipe and dry pipe systems.

Independent problem-solving, decision-making ability, and application of engineering principles.

Performs self QC on work and plans for/seeks appropriate peer review of work.

Meets with Clients regarding electrical engineering design and projects.

Performs field work to document existing conditions.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or an Architectural Engineering Degree
• Certifications/Registrations: Passing Fundamentals of Engineering Exam preferred
• Other Skills / Abilities:
• Ability to work in Revit/Microsoft Office/ HVAC Load Analysis Program (HAP or TRACE)
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Excellent customer service capabilities.
• Ability to work more than 40 hours per week to meet project deadlines.
• Ability to drive to project sites and perform customary field work.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Able to work in the United States.
• Process correspondence efficiently, accurately and confidentially.
• Work independently and in a team environment
