Job summary

The University of Akron is seeking an experienced plumber to perform a wide range of repairs and installations across campus and to lead a small team of associates. You will plan, inspect, and oversee plumbing concerns, ensuring safety and quality in every job.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, a valid Ohio driver’s license, and relevant plumbing experience. The union position offers full benefits, pension, and paid time off, with a consistent 6:00am–2:30pm shift.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Licensed Ohio Driver’s License required.
• Fire Suppression and Backflow Tester certifications preferred.
• 3-year UA or other State Approved Apprenticeship Program for Trade or minimum 8 years plumbing experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled plumbing repairs and installations.
• Lead and train nonexempt staff; schedule, assign tasks and monitor work.
• Complete work orders and coordinate with other trades or contractors.
