Job summary

The University of Akron is seeking a Master Plumber to perform skilled plumbing repairs and installations across campus. This role leads a team, plans and inspects work, and coordinates with other trades and departments to ensure reliable systems and safe operations.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License. Fire Suppression and Backflow Tester certifications preferred.
• Experience: 8 years of plumbing trade experience or completion of a 3-year UA/state-approved apprenticeship for trade.
• Ability to operate standard powered and non-powered plumbing tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled plumbing repairs and installations, including backflow preventers, water mains, and gas lines.
• Lead and train nonexempt staff; coordinate with departments and contractors.
• Plan, inspect, and maintain plumbing systems and keep records of work orders and time/material usage.
