Job summary

The University of Akron is seeking an HVAC Technician to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain HVAC, refrigeration and heating systems. The role will lead and train other staff, plan work from orders and coordinate with other trades to ensure safe, efficient operation across facilities.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, an Ohio driver’s license, a Universal/CFC license, and either a UA apprenticeship or 8+ years of trades experience in commercial/industrial systems.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License and Universal/CFC License.
• Completion of a 3-year University of Akron or other State Approved Sponsored Apprenticeship Program for Trade or 8 years trades experience.
• Ability to repair/install HVAC equipment and read drawings.
• Ability to work with energy management personnel.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair and perform preventative maintenance on HVAC/R equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment; lead, assign and schedule work.
• Train HVAC personnel on repairs and building systems.
• Coordinate HVAC/R work with other trades.
• Read blueprints and drawings to determine installation needs.
