Posting Summary

Rutgers University seeks a Senior Plumber/Steamfitter/Maintenance Mechanic to work independently within a designated campus zone, reporting to a supervisor or guiding a team. Responsibilities include performing plumbing, steamfitting, and mechanical duties based on work orders, estimating work, procuring materials, and possibly instructing trainees or performing duties in other trades.

• Estimate work and procure materials.
• Guide and instruct trainees.
• Perform duties of the team or other trades as assigned.

Position Details

• Status: Full Time
• FLSA: Nonexempt
• Grade: 18
• Salary Range: $47,082 - $64,015 annually
• Hours: 40/week, Mon-Fri 8 AM - 4:30 PM

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience:

• High school/vocational education plus 4 years of plumbing and steamfitting experience, or
• Completion of an approved training or apprenticeship program plus 2 years of experience and proven competency.

Certifications/Licenses:

• Valid driver's license with 2 years driving experience.
• Must complete Rutgers Defensive Driving Course.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Competency in plumbing and steamfitting tasks.
• Good communication skills, ability to lift 50 lbs, read technical manuals and blueprints.
• Welding and brazing experience may be required.
• Possibility of obtaining a Commercial Driver's License.

Special Conditions

• Shift hours: Mon-Fri 8 AM - 4:30 PM
• Clean driving record required.
