Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Principal IC Design Engineer to lead PLL and clocking system development for high-speed RF/mmWave applications in the US. The role emphasizes collaboration with RF/SOC teams, layout oversight, and robust verification to ensure reliable tape-out cycles.

Extensive hands-on experience with PLLs, phase noise, and mixed-signal design is essential, as is the ability to mentor junior engineers and work on-site in CA or WA locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of experience designing high-speed (>20GHz) PLLs for RF/mmWave.
• Expertise in loop design for phase noise, jitter, spur, power and area optimization.
• Proficient in PLLs and clock distribution for wireless and wireline applications.
• Experience with clock domain synchronization in multi-PLL systems.
• Understanding of device physics for process selection and performance optimization.
• Proficient in MATLAB, Spectre, SystemVerilog, AMS for RF/Microwave design.
• Extensive PLL silicon characterization and debugging.
• Experience with analog/RF building blocks (amplifiers, filters, mixers, multipliers).
• U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and integration of PLLs and clock distribution.
• Use Spectre and AMS flows to develop high-performance PLL circuits.
• Collaborate with RF and SOC architects to define PLL requirements.
• Oversee layout, floorplanning, and tape-out verification.
• Develop test plans and bring-up with validation/product engineers.
• Investigate and implement fundamental analog blocks to boost performance.
• Mentor junior engineers on analog design practices.
