Job summary

Clean Energy Fuels is seeking a seasoned Automation Engineer to design and program PLC/HMI systems for industrial equipment. You will develop electrical schematics, I/O lists, and control software, supporting both engineering and manufacturing teams. This role requires troubleshooting, field support during installation, and generating UL documentation.

Domestic travel up to 20% is anticipated. Qualified candidates have a Bachelor's in Automation Engineering with 6–9 years of related experience

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Automation Engineering or related field with 6–9 years of related experience; or equivalent combination.
4+ years of PLC and HMI design and programming for industrial equipment.
Experience using SCADA.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, I/O lists, and schematics.

Responsibilities

Create/modify electrical schematics, drawings, and I/O lists to meet engineering standards and customer specs.
Develop PLC/HMI code and troubleshoot during start-up and commissioning.
Support design and manufacturing of machine control systems for projects.
Provide field support for installation, startup, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
Develop UL and other technical documentation for review and submittal to customers.
Travel domestically up to 20% as needed.
