Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation is seeking a Senior Platforms Engineer to design, implement, automate, and manage enterprise compute, storage, and virtualization platforms across Findlay, OH; Denver, CO; and San Antonio, TX. The role emphasizes IaC, CI/CD, and DevOps within a large-scale enterprise environment.

You will collaborate with cybersecurity, architecture, and operations teams to deliver secure and scalable platform services, and drive automation, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of relevant platforms engineer experience.
• Experience with enterprise compute, virtualization, and storage engineering preferred.
• Experience with SAN storage architecture, business continuity, disaster recovery, and backup technologies preferred.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, scripting, APIs, and tool integration preferred.
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Git-based source control, and infrastructure code reviews preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identifies performance bottlenecks and implements solutions to enhance platform performance.
• Leads troubleshooting and coordination with vendor support and cross-functional teams.
• Plans and implements disaster recovery and backup strategies.
• Develops and maintains IaC, automation frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ensures high availability and scalability of compute, storage, and virtualization platforms.
