Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation in Findlay, OH, with additional Denver and other sites, seeks a Senior Platforms Engineer to lead automated, secure, scalable compute, storage, and virtualization platforms. You will partner with IAM, architecture, and operations to advance IaC, CI/CD, and modern automation while delivering reliable infrastructure to support critical workloads.

The role emphasizes performance tuning, disaster recovery design, and ongoing platform improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of relevant platforms engineer experience.
• Experience with enterprise compute, virtualization, and storage engineering preferred.
• Experience with Infrastructure performance, capacity, and lifecycle management preferred.
• Experience with SAN storage architecture, business continuity, disaster recovery, and backup technologies preferred.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, scripting, APIs, and tool integration preferred.
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Git-based source control, and infrastructure code reviews preferred.
• Experience with platform engineering and cloud/infrastructure automation within large-scale enterprise environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identifies performance bottlenecks and proposes solutions to enhance platform performance and resource utilization.
• Supports troubleshooting procedures and reduces downtime through structured processes and vendor collaboration.
• Designs disaster recovery and testing plans for platforms and systems.
• Analyzes performance data and prepares reports to drive continuous improvement.
• Leads the design and configuration of complex platforms and systems for high availability and scalability.
• Maintains knowledge base for platforms and systems and mentors junior engineers.
• Design, implement, and support SAN storage platforms aligned with business continuity requirements.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation frameworks.
• Implement and support DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows.
