Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead a platform-focused team building a shared search infrastructure powering internal product lines. You will drive end-to-end platform roadmap, API-first design, and a migration to a new search engine while maintaining zero-downtime across production systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 8+ years of software engineering experience with leadership
• Strong platform and systems thinking for shared infrastructure
• Experience leading teams with on-call, SLOs, incident response
• Proficiency in Python and software engineering fundamentals
• Knowledge of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, API design

Responsibilities

• Innovate and own end-to-end platform engineering roadmap, including API-first design
• Lead migration to Vespa and platform search engine with zero-downtime
• Establish on-call rotations, incident response, SLOs, reliability standards
• Grow a team of ~10 engineers with strong ownership and delivery velocity
• Collaborate with product, TR Labs, and platform stakeholders to align roadmaps
