Job summary

Alkami Technology, Inc. is seeking a reliability-focused software engineer to strengthen our cloud-native platform across microservices. You will investigate incidents, implement resilience patterns, and own monitoring, tracing, and performance improvements.

Work remotely in the US, collaborate with Cloud Infra and application teams, contribute to SLO/SLI definitions, and advance fault-injection testing, idempotency, and robust retry strategies.

Qualifications

• 4 to 7 years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or a hybrid reliability engineering role.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in CS/Engineering or related field.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript with production experience in a Node.js/TypeScript service environment.
• Hands-on experience deploying and troubleshooting containerized workloads in Kubernetes.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines; GitHub Actions preferred.
• Experience configuring monitoring and alerting in Datadog.
• Experience troubleshooting distributed systems and microservice communications.
• Experience with distributed tracing tools.
• Familiarity with relational databases and tuning slow queries.
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills; ability to work independently on ambiguous problems.
• Preferred: Kafka, OpenTelemetry, Terraform; collaboration with SRE teams.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve reliability issues in platform code and microservice communication.
• Address failure modes across third-party and internal integrations with resilience strategies.
• Design and maintain monitoring, dashboards, and alerting (Datadog preferred) for platform health.
• Implement distributed tracing across microservices to speed root-cause analysis.
• Diagnose performance issues: caching, slow queries, inefficient paths.
• Harden platform and components against known failure modes via fault-injection and resilience testing.
• Build and troubleshoot CI/CD build pipelines (GitHub Actions) supporting deployment of the platform.
• Deploy and troubleshoot container-native (Kubernetes) workloads.
• Maintain a roadmap of known reliability risks and remediations.
• Create and maintain runbooks covering platform reliability issues and fixes.
• Escalation point for complex platform reliability issues in collaboration with Cloud Infra and App Eng teams.
• Contribute to defining reliability targets (SLOs/SLIs).
