Job summary

The Home Depot is seeking a Senior Software Reliability Engineer to join the Platform Reliability Engineering team. You will ensure resilience, performance, and security of our enterprise Cloud Platform, mentor engineers, and lead incident triage with blameless postmortems. You will drive automation and SLOs to support reliable, customer-facing workloads.

You will collaborate with RE and Enablement teams, reduce toil, and help establish robust reliability practices across services and platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 3+ years of relevant work experience in systems, software, or reliability engineering.
• Experience with ITIL processes and production support including change, incident, and problem management.
• Experience with AI tooling to reduce MTTR and MTTD.
• Experience with scripting languages (BASH, Python, Golang, TypeScript, Java) and data formats (YAML, JSON, HCL).
• Experience with Terraform and Ansible for infrastructure automation.
• Experience with GCP or similar cloud platforms managing diverse services.
• Experience with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes/GKE and microservice architectures.
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux, security tooling, and incident-driven drills.
• Proven ability to design and execute destructive, performance, and failure-scenario tests.
• Strong debugging and root cause analysis skills.
• Experience with version control systems.

Responsibilities

• Develops, tests, deploys, and maintains software with a focus on reliability and value.
• Leads incident triage, postmortems, and problem management to prevent recurrence.
• Drives automation to remove toil and improve MTTR/MTTD/MTTM metrics.
• Collaborates in agile processes to deliver reliable services and clear communications.
• Mentors junior engineers and leads technical discussions on modern software practices.
