Job summary

Fieldguide, a remote-first security-focused software company, is hiring a Senior Software Security Engineer in the United States. You will help build Fieldguide's security function from the ground up, spanning design, identity management, infrastructure security, and AI-security work across Kubernetes and cloud environments.

You will report to the Lead Security Engineer, partner with Product and Platform teams, and drive secure by-default practices, tooling, and education for the engineering

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering in security-focused systems.
• Led security initiatives from design to adoption with measurable improvements.
• Hands-on with identity and secrets management incl. OAuth 2.0 & OIDC.
• Familiar with Kubernetes primitives: RBAC, namespaces, network policies, admission controllers.
• Ability to reason about trust boundaries and threat models.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to find big risks before shipping and build secure libraries.
• Develop and maintain identity and secrets management, including rotation and workload auth.
• Strengthen cloud security controls and automate remediation via IaC scanning.
• Design security models for AI agents, enforce permissions and tenant isolation.
• Mentor teams through design reviews to raise security standards.
