Vivint Smart Home is building a new engineering presence in Seattle to accelerate platform infrastructure.

You will design and operate cloud services, event pipelines, APIs, and IoT integrations powering real-time smart home experiences for millions of devices and customers. This senior role emphasizes architecture, ownership, and cross-team collaboration to deliver scalable, secure systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production systems.
• B.S. in Computer Science or related field preferred.
• Strong experience in Go, Python, or similar backend languages.
• Experience designing distributed systems with scalability, availability, and performance in mind.
• Experience building REST and/or gRPC APIs.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ownership mindset.
• Experience with modern cloud-native tooling (containers, orchestration, CI/CD).

Responsibilities

• Design and operate platform infrastructure powering real-time smart home experiences across cloud, APIs, and IoT integrations.
• Own end-to-end systems from design to production operations, ensuring security and reliability.
• Drive architecture discussions and define technical direction for a Seattle team.
• Collaborate across mobile, backend, embedded, and data teams to deliver end-to-end experiences.
• Mentor engineers and raise engineering standards.
