NRG Energy’s Vivint Smart Home division seeks a Senior Software Engineer to help define and build the next generation of their platform infrastructure. You will design and operate real-time cloud services, APIs, and IoT integrations powering millions of devices across North America.

In Seattle, this role offers high ownership, opportunities to influence architecture, and collaboration across mobile, backend, embedded, and data teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building/operating production systems.
• BS in Computer Science or related field preferred.
• Experience designing distributed systems with scalability and fault tolerance.
• Experience building REST and/or gRPC APIs.
• Experience with cloud-native tooling (containers, orchestration, CI/CD).

Responsibilities

• Design and operate high-scale cloud services and APIs.
• Own systems end-to-end: design, deployment, observability, production ops.
• Lead architecture discussions for new platform capabilities.
• Build secure, resilient, low-latency distributed systems.
• Mentor engineers and raise engineering bar.
