Job summary

Vivint Smart Home, an NRG-owned company, is building a new engineering presence in Seattle to accelerate platform innovation. We seek Sr. Software Engineers to design and operate large-scale, real-time cloud services, APIs, and IoT integrations that power millions of devices.

You will own architecture, deployment, observability, and production operations, collaborating across mobile, backend, embedded, and data teams to deliver end-to-end experiences.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production systems; Senior to Staff level.
• BS in Computer Science or related field preferred.
• Strong experience in Go, Python, or similar backend languages.
• Experience designing distributed systems with scalability, availability and performance in mind.
• Experience building REST and/or gRPC APIs.
• Experience with modern cloud-native tooling (containers, orchestration, CI/CD).

Responsibilities

• Design and operate systems powering real-time smart home experiences across cloud services and IoT.
• Own end-to-end design, deployment, observability, and production operations.
• Lead architecture discussions for platform capabilities.
• Build secure, resilient, low-latency systems in a distributed environment.
• Mentor engineers and raise the engineering bar.
