Job summary

SelectCode UG is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to own the architectural foundation for a scalable AI platform. You will drive reliability, performance, and operational clarity across the production stack.

You will design for real-time data processing, streaming LLM routing with fallback, and cost-aware decisions, while partnering with teams to keep interfaces simple and maintainable under load.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend platform engineering experience.
• Strong system design skills with clear reasoning about performance and cost.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and PostgreSQL with API best practices.
• Hands-on experience deploying with Docker and Kubernetes in production.
• Experience building observability and instrumentation for complex systems.
• Experience handling real-time data from multiple sources and LLM routing.
• Proven track record improving platform reliability under load.

About the Role

SelectCode is building an AI platform that scales reliably-something most competitors fail at. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you'll own the architectural foundation that makes this possible, turning reliability, performance, and operational clarity into competitive advantages. You'll work proactively, reading system signals and acting before problems emerge.

What You'll Do

• Integrate AI products that process and move significantly more data per user action than typical SaaS applications, handling external sources and multi-system context in real time.
• Route streaming responses and LLM requests across providers with fallback and cost logic, ensuring correctness under real production load.
• Monitor system signals - latency distributions, cost curves, error rates and take proactive action to prevent degradation.
• Apply architectural judgment to maintain system quality: introducing structure where needed while keeping designs simple and maintainable.

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience with proven ownership of production platform foundations.
• Strong system design skills; you reason clearly about performance, latency and cost trade-offs.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and solid knowledge of PostgreSQL, APIs, queues and caching.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Track record building observability and instrumentation to gather missing data and debug complex systems.
• Experience handling real-time context from multiple systems, streaming responses and LLM request routing with fallback logic.
• Demonstrated ability to improve platform reliability and performance under production load.
